OFFLINE EDITING - THE CRAFT

Finding The Story

Behind every edit is a real person telling their story — in reality or documentary, my job is finding it in the footage and shaping it so it lands the way it deserves to.

THE STORY

Music & Composers

Music is never dropped in as an afterthought. Whether it's a library or an original score built with a composer, the music has to serve the same story the picture is telling — building tension where the edit needs it, and getting out of the way where silence does the work instead.

Master Interviews

A two-hour interview rarely has its best moment where you'd expect. Part of the craft is listening past the obvious answer, finding the line that actually carries the emotional weight of the piece, and building the edit around it — not just cutting the interview down, but finding the story inside it.

REALITY & ENTERTAINMENT

Fast, character-led, still true to who they are

Reality moves quickly and lives on momentum — but the people on screen are real, and the story built around them has to reflect who they actually are, not just what makes the best cliffhanger.

DOCUMENTARY

Slower, patient, a heavier responsibility

Documentary leaves room for silence, for a moment to breathe. Often it's someone's most difficult experience, told once — so it has to be handled with as much care as craft, not just cut for pace.
